18th Annual Maple Leaf Ball
🍁 18 years of creating platforms that unite Canadian and Chinese business communities
Last Saturday's 18th Annual Maple Leaf Ball at The Langham Xintiandi was a milestone moment - not just for our Canadian community in Shanghai, but for me personally as someone who helped pioneer this signature event nearly two decades ago.
What made this celebration special:
- A sold-out evening bringing together industry leaders, Canadian expats, and friends of Canada
- Outstanding partnership with title sponsor Shanghai Saimen and Manulife -Sinochem
- The support from our Corporate Sponsors: Teck Resources Limited, Chongbang Group, CN Canadian National Railway, and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway
- The generous community spirit during auction time supporting CanCham's initiatives
- New board member Matthew Chiang joining our leadership team
Building community that lasts: As Chair of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, I've watched our Chamber evolve into the cornerstone of Canadian-Chinese business relationships in East China. We don't just promote business success - we create platforms that unite entrepreneurs, artists, institutions, and everyone who embraces Canadian values of inclusivity.
The people who return year after year represent what makes Canada special on the global stage. Whether they're missing home, building international partnerships, or drawn to our community spirit, those days we spend together, we spend in good company.
Grateful to Consul General Jennie Chen, Deputy Consul General Alexandre B. Cérat, and our dedicated CanCham team for their unwavering support in making this vision a reality.
Looking ahead to continuing this community-building work at the IndoPacific CanCham Gathering - Expo 2025 Osaka.
